Loads of dirty nappies since weaning

I'm a ftm and my 6 month old has been on solids for 3 weeks now. He is a big baby and has always had a big appetite and it's no different for solids - he eats absolutely everything we give him (mashed foods plus finger foods plus small cut up bits of chicken etc) and lots of it! He really enjoys eating and has been a delight to feed so far- he will quite happily eat 3 small meals a day if I offer them, along with plenty of breast feed.

The issue is he has an insane amount of dirty nappies. Between 7 and 10 a day ever since we started. The poo varies from being large more adult like and solid to smaller more liquid breast milk type poos. And hes developed horrible nappy rash when hes never had it before

Am I feeding him too much? The wrong thing? Uts mostly fruit and veg, Greek yogurt, porridge, and the occasional small bits of chicken or fish.

Grateful for any advice as his bum is really sore and the sheer quantity of dirty nappies is concerning me slightly!

When my DS started weaning his dirty nappies increased lots as well. I think the maximum he produced was 8 in 1 day. I think it was just his body getting used to different things, though happy to be told I'm wrong. As time went on things settled down a lot. We're down to 1 dirty nappies a day now/ sometimes 2 in 1 day and nothing the next (now 21months).

You could try cutting him down to one or two meals a day and seeing if that helps. Have you tried Metanium on his nappy rash? That usually sorts it out Smile

If he's eating so well try to make meals or intake açross the day more varied. If you are mainly eating fruit and veg you'd poo a lot too!
