Why am I so nervous this time round?

Did blw with my first DD, just started blw second time round with DD2 & I’m nervous as hell each time she eats. I’ve never had a bad experience with my first so not sure why I am feeling like this.
Can anyone reassure me it’s going to be ok??
Thanks

I'm the same! Did BLW with DD (now 4yrs) & started DS when he turned 6mths, 2mths ago.
But whereas DD took to BLW straight away, DS hasn't & its really stressed me out this time.
We had to do purées with him as he just would gag & throw everything he'd eaten up 😔
Only now he's 8mths is he starting to manage bigger pieces (baby pasta, rice etc) but he's still not getting much to his mouth himself, most ends up on the floor & the waste is awful.
Sometimes he's great, most days not. I'm trying not to show how much it's affecting me, to him, but I'm really not enjoying it this time.
Hope it goes better for you.

There is 0 harm in giving him puree for now if you are anxious about it all.
You can do a mixture of both it doesn't have to be 100% BLW.
In 8 weeks time they will be eating every thing anyway so it doesn't really matter how the start goes
Dont put extra stress on yourself its not worth it at all x

Is it really by 10 months they can eat everything? Blimey. Im a first time mum, DC is 8 mo and I feel like we're still just scratching the surface so it's exciting to know she'll be more open minded and able soon 😊

Thanks everyone, i know I’m not the only one that gets so worried about it all - it’s nice to hear others going through the same worries as me. I just need to make sure I don’t show her how anxious I am when she takes that mouthful each time.

What is it thats up? Do you think she may choke? Allergies? Refusal?

Tinks15 · 19/02/2019 11:10

The choking thing

Second time round here too and want to do blw but getting stressed about the mess. With my first I just jet her get on with it and she was great. I was more enthusiastic too. Doing a bit more of spoon fed and blw this time.

If you are worried about choking, why not give only finger foods that pass the "tongue squish" test, and mash/grind other things? That is what I did.

TheRhythmlessMan · 21/02/2019 16:24

Tongue squidge test? Didn't know about that but makes sense. Thank you kokeshi
