sort of blw baby won't eat veg - any ideas!

I'm sure I'm not alone in feeling I'm getting weaning all wrong, but would appreciate ideas and hearing from anyone who's been there.

My dd is 7.5 months and refuses to eat most veg. I started weaning her at 5mths on advice of HV (why do we ever listen to these people) who said it would help with her problematic sleeping (it didn't!). Anyway, basically gave her a little bit of baby rice with breast milk for most of the month and then a little fruit with it. She wasn't overly bothered and was slow to increase how much she took. She was okay as I started to introduce vegetable purees and then just stopped eating the veg (firmly closed mouth and head turned to the side whenever I offered it!).

Then I heard about baby led weaning and have been mainly doing this for about a month, but I also give her a pudding from a spoon after her evening meal (fruit puree mixed with baby rice and milk) as she eats so little with the blw and I want to fill her up to get her to sleep for longer at night. She also has cereal with fruit puree and milk in the monring. She will eat lots of the fruit puree and rice or cereal and reasonable amounts of chunks of fruit, as well as a bit of avocado, bread, potato, eggs, fish or chicken, but will not eat most veg either through blw approach or as puree, despite being offered it (varying options) at every meal.

Am getting worried that she'll never eat veg! Am I sabotaging the blw by giving her the pudding? Anyone else had this problem, and if so what happened?? Sorry it's such a long post!

They get used to pudding and know it is there waiting! Carrot and apple makes a nice combination, try that and gradually reduce the apple in it.

Has she had peas yet, DD loves them, and frozen mixed veg. Takes ages but they enjoy picking the little bits up.

Thanks for the idea, was thinking about trying this but sleep deprived brain kept forgetting. Have given her carrot and apple with baby rice for dinner for a couple of nights and it seems to be going down okay. Will work on reducing the apple...Ditto pear and butternut squash, although that one has worked before and then she stopped eating it. Any more winning fruity-veg combinations? She had some peas for tea last night as well, but not sure how many made it into the stomach! No joy with frozen mixed veg - have been trying for weeks.

Anyone else had this experience? Surely I'm not alone ?!

Lilysma: DS was like this but gradually got better. Try mixing veg with cream/cheese - spinach and cream was an early favourite and he still eats spinach even though it's quite a strong taste. Parsnip? That's q sweet.
