Yes, you read it right! I was discussing BLW with a mum at toddlers today, and she told me I was risking ds having problems with his internal organs!!!!!????? What is she on - and what does she think I'm feeding him? And does she know anything about human biology? There really are some barmy people out there (although she's probably thinking the same thing about me!). What CAN she mean? Ideas, anyone?

what is BLW?

Malaleche · 03/07/2007 21:06

she must think babies stomachs cant cope with anything but purees till they are older?

Idobelieveinfairies · 03/07/2007 21:06

Big long waffle?

Idobelieveinfairies · 03/07/2007 21:07

Can't think of anything else...BLW??

NotQuiteCockney · 03/07/2007 21:10

Wait, has your baby been chewing with his organs again?

Idobelieveinfairies · 03/07/2007 21:11

Ohhhhh..think i am too old for this weaning thing....

what does that entail then?

(sorry)

NotQuiteCockney · 03/07/2007 21:22

BLW means, essentially, just feeding your baby table scraps, and skipping the whole baby-rice/puree/lots of orange/walpaper paste stage.

Kathyis6incheshigh · 03/07/2007 21:25

table-scraps makes it sound like the sort of thing you would feed the dog.

Do you scrape your plates at the end into the baby's bowl? Is that how it works?

NotQuiteCockney · 03/07/2007 21:26

No no, I'm being a bit oversimplistic. I think this is Aitch's blog.

I used a lot of chip-shaped things to start with. I did prepare meals specially for him, at least initially, but it was less work than pureeing.

Aitch · 03/07/2007 21:30

oh she's definitely right. all those sharp chip-shaped edges poke holes in their wee tummies as they go down, didn'tchaknow? poor little perforated babes, leaking everywhere.

Idobelieveinfairies · 03/07/2007 21:37

owwwwwwwwww... i see, you can do both though eh?!

i used to feed mine their puree, and let them suck and chew on 'finger bits', peace and quite for ages!!!!

Aitch · 03/07/2007 21:38

aaah, see us BLWers just do the finger food so we get to neglect them almost conpletely!

Idobelieveinfairies · 03/07/2007 21:38

lol@mum2sebs crazy mum conversation...now!

Some people just make it up as they go along!!!!!!!!!

Idobelieveinfairies · 03/07/2007 21:40

lol..hardly.....mine were alwasy tooooo starving to muck around with holding finger bits until the hunger pains had subsided..then they chewed away happily.

Puree is bloomin messy stuff!!!! finger food is gooooooooooooooood!!!!!!!!!!!!

Snowboo · 03/07/2007 21:41

Oh no, my MiL has been on the rampage again. I sincerely apologise.

Aitch · 03/07/2007 21:47

snowboo? is your MiL on mumsnet? [worst nightmare]

Snowboo · 03/07/2007 21:52

No, shes probably been lurking toddler groups to get ammo on my parenting style
Oh no, what if she IS on here?? Stalking me.

Idobelieveinfairies · 03/07/2007 21:55
