How to progress with weaning...

6 month old been weaning for 3 weeks now, takes purées of veg and sweet potato, potato, various fruits very well and has 2 smallish meals (brekkie and dinner) a day and sometimes little bits at lunch
Occasional finger foods which he loves but doesn’t get too much in, more on the floor Grin

Where to progress next? Can he have meats now? Do you purée it? We eat lots of chicken breast, salmon and mince beef once a week. I have several books but never find time to read them!!

Just give him it. No puréed meats!

Be careful - ive had to pull a bit of gammon out of DSs mouth after he’d sucked it to death - but mince would be fine.

There's very little they can't have at 6 months and meat is fine as is fish. Meat makes a great finger food, try a strip of chicken or a sausage cut lengthways.Smile

Sorry, i couldn’t do links earlier for some reason. Here are the foods to avoid according to the NHS.

This guide from the Caroline Walker Trust is good as it gives suggested first foods, suggested portion sizes and sample menus. HTH Smile
