Transition from formula to cows milk; anyone else had issues?

Hi all,

Over the last two days my DH and I have been trying to change our DDs (16 months) bottles from formula (SMA) to full fat cows milk, and whilst DD has been drinking it fine (1-2 5 fl oz per day) she's had really bad nappies. No rash as of yet but seems to be causing a light coloured diarrhoea that she hasn't had before.

She's otherwise completely happy and herself, and she had had cows milk in small doses before, in cereal etc, and I was wondering has anyone come across this in their kids before, how long did it take for their tummies to get used to it, or have any you got suggestions on how to do it differently? I don't think it can be a lactose intolerance because it's in SMA formula and she's had milk plenty of times before, maybe it's just the quantities....?

Thanks in advance x

You could try mixing smaller amounts of cows milk with formula to introduce it gradually

Thanks for replying pixie, I think I'm going to give that a go and see if she improves x
