Worried about choking

Hello!
I’m new here but had such a good experience my first post about sleeping that I thought I’d try for some more advice.
Baby is 7months old and is a brilliant eater. Yet to find something she doesn’t want to finish.
Want to try adding some finger foods and new textures but I’m absolutely terrified about choking.
We’ve had, banana, toast and broccoli but I sit there with my tummy churning with nerves.
I know gagging isn’t the same as choking but every time it happens my heart skips a beat. I’m trying not to let it hinder my daughter experiencing new foods. Am I being a typical worrying first time mum or is this normal To worry

I think it is normal. Watch a video with the difference between gagging and choking. If they gag then that is them preventing choking. Either watch a video about what to do if your child chokes or do a first aid course.

No I know the difference between choking and gagging. It’s more then anxiety of her chocking that terrify me! 😮

I think you are probably best watching a video on what to do if baby chokes and it’s probably worth seeing if there’s a Paediatric First Aid Course in your area. These are sometimes run at your Children’s Centre, by British Red Cross or St John’s Ambulance or even the NCT.

This probably isn’t very helpful, but they can choke on purees too so try not to get too anxious over the finger foods Smile
