Tongue thrust

We always planned to do BLW. DS has been showing all the signs of weaning for a while - or so I thought.

Now I'm not sure whether or not he's lost his tongue thrust. If I touch his lips he tries to eat my finger.
He's also been launching himself at my food if he's been sat on my lap while I'm eating (faceplanting in a banana etc) but when we tried today (first time) he spat a lot out. Now I'm not sure if it's tongue thrust or just not liking the flavours.

He also seems to prefer me to hold certain foods and he uses his hands to bring my hand to his mouth (or brings his mouth to my hand Grin) rather than grabbing them himself - this seems to be true of more sticky/messy foods like banana.

Does it sound like he still has his tongue thrust? Should I hold off another week or so before trying again?

How old is he and if you put something on his tray like sone cooked pasta, can he pick it up and put it in his mouth?

Six months. He can pick it up, he's just lazy

From what you’ve said, I’d be tempted to leave it a couple of days at least and see if things go any better next time. The signs of readiness are in this leaflet of that helps Smile
