7 month old not keen on solids

My DS is 7 months old and we have been weaning for about a month now. He's not particularly keen on solids in general. I give him either baby porridge or yoghurt in the morning and on a good day, he will eat about a desert spoonful. I've started to give him lunch because he is not taking well to tea so close to bedtime as he is getting grumpy. He will only really eat an ice cube worth at lunch and/or tea. He tends to clamp his lips together and strains at his highchair straps to get out.
I know that before 1, it's more about taste than anything else but I'm a bit worried he's not eating enough. Am I worrying unecessarily? Everyone else I know with babies about the same age, their babies seem to wolf down food!

Don’t worry, I went through this and thought my child ought to be eating three meals a day straight away. Actually, she pretty much lived on milk until she was about a year. In the end I realised it was fine for her just to have tastes of whatever we were eating. She definitely preferred normal food to baby food. And she much preferred sweet tastes at first. She eats completely normally now (2.5) and has done since she was a year.

I wouldn't worry, at 7 months there were still days where all my lo had was milk. I started him on one meal a day and worked up to three but that was over quite a few months. I would just try and get him to try a few mouthfuls of different things but I didn't stress too much because he loved his milk (still does). Some days he ate more and some days less but by a year he was fine and eating three meals a day.

Another to say - don't worry! I did and if I'm honest it wasted the last of my maternity leave. I was obsessing over it, and to look at her now, at a year and a half I wonder why!? Just keep trying him with bits of what you're eating - BLW, I suppose and he'll get there in his own time ❤️

Food before one is just for fun!

It's teaching them to eat, it really doesn't matter how much they eat as long as they are getting enough milk.

It may be that she doesnt like being fed by spoon.
You could try: putting raspberries or strawberry pieces on the high chair for her to pick up while you spoon in the odd bit of baby porridge or yoghurt.
Lunch could be cubes of cooked sweet potato that she can pick up herself, with a slice of cheese or crisp things loads wth houmous. Soft fruit for pudding..
And so on...
My 10mo currently eats noodles from the high chair and bits of stir fry chicken and veg
