Right ok, so is she having bottles then outside of her solid meals. If so I wouldn't have thought you need to worry about adding formula to her meals.

With regards to amounts per meal it varies from baby to baby, milk should form the bulk of their diet at this stage so don't worry too much about how much solid food she is taking

Sixofone · 12/06/2007 22:23

Ok so, things like

  • rice pudding
  • custard
  • babybel cheese if she eats finger foods
  • cheese sauces
  • grated cheese in food are all good ways of getting extra milk in!

But it's prob just a phase, sure mine had a no milk thanks mummy phase around then and can't get enough of it now! (12 mths)

DD won't take any formula at either during meals or between meals....she just completely refuses it all the time. Since last night at 7 pm she's had 2 ounces! Can someone please tell me if its ok if 9 month old can have no milk at all at this stage and survive on spoon feeds alone?

I would speak to my HV to get some information and/or reassurance that this is ok.

Some babies do self wean early others take years! Meanwhile Sixopone makes some good suggestions

jakeyscousin - does she have any reaction when she takes the small amount of milk? When did she start disliking milk? Have you tried different formulas? It is v important that she takes her milk and I would work with your HV (providing she is a reasonable one that is) to get a plan in place for changing/trying new things one step at time.

Good luck.
