Really need some advice, at my wits end tonight

Hi, I'm really hoping for some helpful advice as my 12m old son just will not eat & as much as I try to be chilled about it all we've had yet another screaming fit when food has been put down for him tonight and I'm just so frustrated. I'm starting to feel like I'm doing something wrong now.

He has had reflux since birth which he is still on ranitadine for and this seems to be helpful. We have done a mix of BLW and traditional but mainly BL. He can use a spoon to scoop and self feed and will put anything in his mouth if he is hungry but then just cries, drops it and has a little 'moment'. Im not entirely sure he even likes being in the chair at the table?! He eats with us at the table when possible, but barely ingests anything. The childminder is really good but he's the same at hers and Im struggling to send food that he will eat while hes there and I feel like she thinks Im abit rubbish as his eating is so poor! As a consequence he still wakes up twice during the night for full bottles (tried all the tricks to stop this)' hes always been a strong willed little boy and is quite definate about what he does and doesnt want. Hes also been slow with all of his gross motor milestones.

Any help/advice/similar experiences please share them! Im abit desperate!

I don't know if this actually helps, but my 1 year old eats a ton in the day (although she does have the odd day where she seems to live on air!) and STILL wakes up for two full bottles in the night :) You're not alone!

👎 for the night wakings but 👍 for not being the only one!!

We also are up for a bottle in the night at nearly 13months, but in my case my little one has dropped a few percentiles so in fact probably needs the extra calories. She's also only really started eating since going to nursery last week. She now eats more at home as well, but very little when out and about as far too distracted with all the people watching. You mentioned the high chair might be an issue? Have you tried a little picnic on the floor or a small table with snacks so he can help himself?

Hi, thanks for your reply. Yes we've tried 'picnics' and a bumbo style chair, sitting on the sofa like mummy & daddy (but to be honest Id prefer the table for meals), he eats snacky bits much better in his pushchair, almost like if hes distracted from the food hell just leisurely munch away. Maybe my expectations are just way off for his age, he is my first so winging it!

How much do you interact with him while you're eating? Both of mine eat better when we ignore them and let them get on with it. You said he can feed himself so give him the same as you and eat yours while leaving him to eat his himself.

Thanks @CLB1234 I will try that over the next couple of days and see how we get on
