Weaning advice

Hello

Just wanted peoples thoughts etc on weaning.

Been weaning my baby for about a month now, she's nearly 7 months.

Seemed to have gone backwards with the whole eating now! She has been spoon fed and does a bit of self feeding (baby led) do you give bottle before or after food?

Some days she will completely refuse the spoon like will scream at me. Then if I give her food first then bottle after she will not have the bottle.

Obviously she's not hungry at times I'm feeding her. Would you drop the milk a little in her bottle? Also when would you go to 3 meals a day? Any advice would be great

I didn't give milk at the same time as food. I gave milk then food an hour or so later e.g.
Milk at 7, 11, 3, 7
Food at 8, 12, 5

Thank you

Did you always feed same size bottles each time or did you give more in morning and eve etc? X

Advice is to give milk about an hour before food. Babies are learning about food and it is never strange to them. It is difficult to learn something new if you are hungry and they won’t have the patience to faff around with food when all they want is milk.

Babies should be feed on demand so they should take as much milk as they want and should never finish a bottle. If the do finish the bottle then you need to make and offer more milk.

We have three bottles and three meals a day. Our routine is normally milk, breakfast, lunch, milk, tea, milk. Timings are flexible as our routine is quite loose and depends what time DS first wakes. He's 8 months and we've had this routine for about a month now.

I do feed on demand and make her more if she empties bottle so was just curious as to weather she was too full for food etc.

Zebra pig did your DC drop the fourth bottle quite soon then?

They lay off the eating a bit when teething or maybe if they have a new food that's a bit hard to digest, or some brain development means they want the comfort of milk more, or they're just not in the mood...
They say fun til one, keep up the milk and let her eat what she fancies but don't worry if it's not consistent amounts. She'll wean eventually!
