Homous

Do any of you feed your baby homous? If so, is there a particular brand or type e.g. low fat, reduced salt? My baby is 11 months old.

I never give the DC low fat anything OP, they need the calories to grow. I just give them regular hummus Smile

Make your own? It's easy and you can reduce the amount of salt.

AdoreTheBeach · 06/09/2018 16:03

What’s homous?

FartnissEverbeans · 08/09/2018 20:09

AdoretheBeach Do you actually not know or are you just being unpleasant? There are lots of spellings.

OP, I make my own and it’s great! There’s a recipe on the Jamie Oliver site for basic hummus. I roast the garlic and shell the chickpeas, reduce the amount of salt and oil.

SweetPeaPods · 08/09/2018 20:10

It’s great for babies, chickpeas are full of calcium

CountessVonBoobs · 08/09/2018 20:11

Why would you give low fat? Babies and small children should never have reduced fat foods.

Houmous is great, use the normal brand or make your own.

My dc loved it as babies, but hate it now!!

I just used to give them Co-Op or Tesco’s.

mindutopia · 12/09/2018 17:36

I just give the normal Tesco kind. It does have added salt so I offer it in moderation, not every day or massive quantities. Both of mine have had it from 6 months.

Thanks all! I will give a little of a shop brand. I have made my own before but don’t think I will have time at the moment. Also is tahini now available from a regular supermarket? I think I bought some from a specialist middle eastern supermarket when I made my own.
