I've got twins 5 months 4 weeks early and none of them take hardly any milk about 10oz a day if I'm lucky . Anyone else got problems getting there's to take milk ? It's really frustrating as they are hungry started solids but still not enough fluid intake !

I would talk with your HV or GP. Generally, I think the advice is to hold off on solids if there is less than ideal milk intake. Milk should always come first as solids, especially at this age, are all filler and not nutrient and calorie dense. Personally, I would stop solids and focus on milk feeds until well past 6 months and then re-visit it.

How heavy are they OP? At this age they should be having roughly 2.5 floz per pound in weight in 24 hours so if they’re 10 pounds it should be 25 floz. If they get any less, you should be giving a vitamin.

I ageee with mindutopia. There’s no need for solids at 5 months. I’d stop and concentrate on getting as much milk into them as you can. They need the milk to support their growth and development.

There’s no rush to get babies into solids. The current NHS guidelines say to start at 6 months and to build up to offering solids 3 times a day between 8 and 9 months]]. This is to try and encourage parents not to give too much in solids too soon as babies need their milk Smile

Thanks for all advice . I've been to doctors , HV , and hospital many times and they have all said to give them food if not taking much milk. my one boy actually hits the bottle away from his mouth he will only have milk at nite asleep . So stopping solids is not a good idea for me and my boys I can't let them go hungry they are both strong willed and very healthy happy babies.
I was just looking to see if anyone else had come across this.

How much milk were they taking before youvstared solids OP?

If you offer milk and they refuse, do you offer food straight away?

What centiles are they on and what did they start off on at birth?

I don't mean this to sound rude but I don't need to be anyone asking all these questions I just interested if anyone had same problem and they were only taking 12oz

What foods are they eating? If they are filling their stomachs with veg purée (very low in calories) then there is no room for the very fillling, calorie and nutrient rich milk

Think that's out of order you should be reported for that foul language !!
