Hello mums Smile
I read an article (yes I had time, for once ha ha!) that said the best time to introduce new flavours/spices etc is between 4 and 6 months as any time after that babies have already developed the ability to reject foods apparently, I feel a bit sceptical about this... are there any of you that have added some different flavourings and spices as early as this? And what ones seemed to be ok?

I'm not sure when the guidelines changed to weaning at 6mths. But my ds was born in 2006 and it was 6 mths then. Me and my siblings were also weaned at 6 mths in the 80s and 90s (but maybe my mum was just doing her own thing!). So the guidelines have definitely been 6mths for well over a decade. Not sure where everyone gets this 4 mths thing from? Probably baby foods as it sometimes says 4mths on that to sell more I expect Wink

Late to the party but 4 months is way too early.

You can wean a child from 6 months with all the normal food you eat incl. spicy food such as curries but just being mindful that its not too hot. Just avoid shellfish (i think, ill have to have another look at my paperwork to make sure).

Annabel Karmel is a lunatic for saying purees are fine at 17 weeks. She just wants to sell more books. Tit.
