have forgotten since i weaned ds1, when you start them on porridge and the like do you have to use formula or can you just use cows milk? (can't really be bothered with expressing but not sure i like the idea of formula )

you can cook with cows milk, so if I'm making porridge for dd I'll use real milk

i use cow's milk if it's being cooked with.

We gave DS cow's milk in his porridge at 6m but unfortunately he seems to be intolerent so it's back to EBM (we didn't like the idea of formula either). Most mums I know say their LOs are fine with the cow's milk though.

I use ready made formula as it would take me about 6 weeks to express enough breastmilk

hana · 28/05/2007 15:05

I religiously expressed and froze breastmilk for dd1 for this very purpose
With dd2 I expressed a bit and would use 'fresh' emb from that day
haven't yet expressed for dd3 and don't plan on it, just have used cows milk as soon as she needed some in foods

thought normal cows milk would be ok, just wondered if there are more nutrtional goodies in formula iykwim!!
