Cows milk allergy (CMPI) Rusks? Any problems?

They say they don't contain milk, but made in a factory that handles milk.

Anyone had any problems with Rusks?

I wouldn't give them at all as they are very sugary.

They are, aren't they?! I don't remember them being like that before (15 years ago!)

I think it says on the pack not suitable for milk allergy sufferers. Agree with demented though, even the reduced sugar ones are one fifth pure refined sugar.

But does anyone have any experience with them?

No sorry. Is LO under a Paediatric Dietician? Have they advised trying the milk ladder?

I gave them to my Ana to dairy child and she was fine with them. I knew they weee high in sugar but had limited options due to allergies

Organix bars and biscuits - we have a lot of them
Rice cakes - marmite ones are a favourite
Dried fruit - apricots, raisins
Cheerios - again probably sugary but good for fine motor skills as well
Boiled egg cut up in fingers
Breadsticks with hummous

And of course the usual veg and fruit fingers etc

Is your DC ok with soya? If so soya yoghurts, cheese etc

Haven't tried egg, soya or humous yet!

I give a lot of avocado, egg and hummous as they are fatty, my DC struggled to put on weight after 6 months. In a “normal” diet a lot of the fat comes from dairy so I had to make it up elsewhere.
I used to make salmon and give DC big flakes of it as easy to hold.

Peanut butter on toast.
Gingerbread men are usually ok.
The yo yo fruit things.
Pancakes with oat milk and vitalite in place of milk and butter

I was lucky as my DC wasn’t fussy and I always had a variety of plastic boxes full of food with me at all times!

Dd eats LOTS of the triple cooked chips (beef fat dripping!) and is still tiny!
