BLW - when do you start on really messy food?

So far we have been mainly trying 'veggie chips' (broccoli, carrot etc. and stuffed pita bread - DD is almost 7 months old. She has a pretty good hand grip, but no pincer grip (can't remember when they get that.) This may be a stupid question, but does she need more of a pincer grip before tackling stuff like spag bol? Is it possible for them to mush stuff together like risotto?
