Early weaning-food prep

Hello!
As advised by his feeding nurse (he has cmpa and severe reflux) , started weaning at 17 weeks. He has porridge for breakfast and baby rice for his tea at about 4.30pm, he hobbled them up! He will be five months next week and nurse said to start him on veg.
What I’m wanting to know is how to prepare the veg please? Boil or steam? Mash or whizz with a blender? By itself, mix with baby rice or his formula?
Also, I was thinking carrots to start on but can anyone else make any recommendations please? I know veg first and to try a food for 4 days to make sure no allergic reactions.
Thank you so much Smile

Yes I was shocked too as we’d already seen a paediatrician who I thought had diagnosed. They have to see a dietician for reintroduction of dairy via the milk ladder at age 12 months. Apparently the dietician confirms diagnosis and offers advice in the meantime about making up for the missing calcium in a DF diet. I was really annoyed that she’d left it until my daughter was nearly 7 months to make the referral knowing that the waiting list is massive. X

Oh she’s such an idiot leaving it so late! Fingers crossed a cancellation will come up and you’ll be able to get in earlier. 🤞🏻🤞🏻
I’m back there in four weeks so will ask her about it then, thank you!

Let me know how you get on. X

My HV told us NOT to wean early, despite consultant's and dietetitian's recommendation, and I am still upset I listened to hear. A lot of HVs here adopt 'one size fits all' approach and have hardly any experience with babies with reflux and allergies.

He’s been on sweet potato for a few days but last night was really sick.
Tried avacado today and he’s been horrendously sick on it Sad don’t know what to do and am now considering holding off weaning for four weeks until he’s 6 months old but then I feel the last three weeks weaning have been a waste

Maybe go back to just baby rice and give his tummy a little break? Try again in a few weeks?

It would be a shame to stop altogether if he’s taken well to it so far. X
