I was wondering if anyone could give me any advice when it comes to weaning. I am doing mixed baby led weaning. My lo wakes around 6 every morning and has a bottle around 7. He eats more breakfast after having a nap around 10 ish. I am due back at work in 5 weeks time and would like to try establish earlier breakfast

What's the childcare arrangement?
Is there any reason he can't have 'breakfast' after nap as currently?

Kayleigh1992 · 29/05/2018 22:42

He will be with family so I suppose he could just stay as he is at the minute. Depending on what time he wakes if he wakes after 6 nearer to 7 and he doesn't nap until 9ish he will sometimes nap until 11 where he would be due another nap and in those instances not be having any breakfast

Can he not have breakfast after his bottle at 7?

Kayleigh1992 · 30/05/2018 18:57

He could do but won't eat as much as if he has it after his nap

Why don't you offer breakfast first, then bottle after. Then it will help with slowly decreasing bottle size and increasing food amount as he approaches 1

I would give breakfast about an hour after the morning bottle. Doesn't matter if they don't take much as lunch will be after the nap.

Bottle at 7, breakfast at 8/8.30, nap at 10 and then bottle at 11ish and lunch at 12/12.30.

You should give milk first while he is little. It doesn’t matter if he doesn’t eat loads, he is only little.

@Thesearmsofmine that sounds like a good routine, may give it a go. Although because he wakes before 6 he won't last until 8/half 8 for breakfast, normally napping around this time, so may have to do morning bottle earlier, say half 6 then breakfast around 8 before nap. I always give bottle before food whilst he is at this age. Thank you all for suggestions and advice.
