Hi - my baby is 7.5 months, tall (91st) but skinny (between 25th and 50th). We’re doing BLW but just wondering if this sounds ok as a typical day or should I be trying to get him to take more milk still?

5am - 6oz then back to bed
8am breakfast - eg half a banana and a piece of fruit loaf or crumpet with peanut butter and fruit
11am - struggle to get formula in, maybe takes 4 or 5oz
1pm lunch - only recently added this, generally will have picky bits eg cucumber, cherry tomatoes and a pastry pin wheel or houmous and rice cake
3pm - another 3 or 4oz
4.30 dinner - either leftovers eg meat/veg/potato or if nothing suitable I’ll make an omelette with peas/mushrooms or a portion of lentil bake from the freezer. He loves plain full fat Greek yoghurt so will eat plenty of this as ‘pudding’ (spoon fed!)
6.30pm bedtime bottle - up to 8oz but sometimes falls asleep during this!

Touch wood apart from teething he rarely has a night feed (maybe once a week). Amounts eaten vary but his appetite has picked up so quite a lot gets in!

Hi OP - I think your LO menu sounds really good. As long as your baby takes 16-20oz a day, you are absolutely fine. If his intake falls under 16oz, NHS recommend that you start giving vitamin supplements.

I was focused on getting DD to try (and hopefully) like fish so twice a week I offered her steamed salmon, trout or cod with green vegetables (e.g. broccoli, asparagus, beans, peas) and rice or potatoes. I did not want to go for fish fingers (I do not find them particularly healthy) so whenever we had fish on the menu, I always spoon fed. DD is 16 months and for now seems to really enjoy fish (along with other food).

Hi OP. DS is the same age and approx. height and weight as yours. This is what he gets:
0630 Milk (breastfed so not sure how much he actually gets)
0730 Porridge with prunes or french toast with apricot puree
1000 Milk (but not particularly keen so doesn't drink much)
1230 Cous cous with tomato, mixed green veg puree
1400 Milk (usually only a small feed)
1600 Milk (only if he didn't feed well at 1400)
1730 Fish, sweet potato and carrot puree
1815 Milk (usually a good feed)
0100 Night feed

You DS seems to have less milk then mine but more food? I think you are just further along the weaning journey than us. You've given me a few good ideas, thanks Smile

6am - wake
6.30ish - banana and porridge oat fingers
7.30 - 4oz then nap
10.30 4oz and another nap
12 - avocado on toast
1- 4oz nap
5 ish - what we are having for dinner or a puree if not suitable.
6 - 4oz and bed.

Can you tell mine feeds to sleep 😂

Thanks! More fish is definitely something I need to do. He’s had tuna and white fish and liked it but need to have it a bit more regularly. Can babies eat shellfish?
His volume of both food and milk seems to have gone up this week so think there might be a growth spurt going on!
