Hello, my son is 6 months old and I’ve started weaning him. My HV told me he needs to be having 3 meals a day. He’s been having 3 small meals and is really enjoying it. However today I have changed 15 pooey nappies, none of them runny ( all properly formed). My little boy is exhausted from constantly pushing and his little bottom is red raw :( has anyone else had this? Am I giving him too much? Thanks x

I had exactly the same, 9 was our record. She’s been eating food for about 5-6 weeks now and we are down to a normal amount per day now. So it should pass in time for you too. It lasted a few weeks

Allergy?

Your LO doesn’t need 3 meals a day when you’ve only just started weaning. At this stage it’s just about exploring food. The amount of bowel movements is likely due to the massive change in diet so suddenly.

If the poo is hard and small amounts each time he could be constipated? What sort of food is he eating?

Other than that as PP said it should level back out to a normal amount soon enough.

Hi , thank you for all your replies. It’s good to know it should settle down. I thought possibly an allergy but it’s not runny / no other symptoms? Possibly. He’s having mainly fruit and veg.
