Reducing milk. Is this ok?

Hello. Ds is six months old. I've started weaning him. He's having 7oz bottle at 8am, porridge at 10am, bottle at 12.30, vegetables at 14.30 and another bottle about 5.30pm.
He used to have 4 bottles but he's asleep at 8pm so only getting three. Does this sound enough?

Doesn't seem much for just starting weaning. Our timings used to be milk at 7, 11, 3 and 7 with food at 8, 12 and 5

We've only just started weaning. The hv said to build it from one to two then three meals a day. We're on two at the minute and he seems happy. I will try to put milk up to four times a day

He should still be getting most of his nutrition from milk at this stage; so I think should be on 4 bottles a day and working towards eating 3 solid meals a day. At 6 months we fed our baby bottles at 6am, 10am, 2pm and 6pm. Between 6-8 months we moved her onto solid meals at 7:30, 11:30, 5pm.

Thanks. I've been using porridge with 90mls milk and vegetables but they're small portions really.

Go back to 4 bottles and where a bottle falls with a natural meal time offer food first then give bottle. Some babies need a little milk before they eat if they're really hungry but just split the feed if that's the case. When they start to eat more then reduce the milk at these times. It becomes more natural process then rather than trying to fit it in.

If it helps you OP my daughter was referred to a dietician at the hospital and she told me at this stage baby should be getting at least 600ml of fluid a day be that milk, breast milk or cooled boiled water whilst weaning so I always aim for 22oz a day.

I use 2oz of water in her porridge, then the other 5oz in a bottle at 9am.

At 12 she will have a 7oz bottle.

At 3pm she’ll have another 5oz bottle after her baby food.

At 6pm she’ll have her final 7oz bottle before bed.

Sometimes I’m over or under depending how hungry she is or if she’s full but I find I just offer the bottles and take my lead from her.

It’s not easy! I feel your pain Smile
