HV has advised me to give 20oz of milk

DD is 7 months and at weighing last week she was 21lb 15oz, near top centile.

HV has told me to cut back her milk to 20oz, including yoghurt and milk for cooking, how do I know how many ounces are in yoghurts etc.

Has anyone else experienced being told to cut milk right down?

what?! Milk is the main form of nutrition for babies up to one year old. DS at 11.5 months has more than 20 oz of milk per day plus yoghurts and cheese. You don't put babies on diets ... she isn't off the centile charts so why panic?????

I'm not following what she said anyway! She just said it was all they needed at 6 months+ but my DD would be miserable if that is all I gave her. She does have about 20oz but I give, cheese and yoghurt, fromage frais as well.

Bullcrap.

She will melt the chubby off when she starts walking. She doesn't need to go on a flaming diet, mad arse HV

well I am sure she is doing just great then - DS loves his milk!!

samsmam · 12/05/2007 21:40

Thanks, I think she is losing it already with all her bouncing in the doorway!

PErhaps she was just trying to interest her in other foods? I know DS was not exactly interested in other food until we reduced the milk intake a bit. Although I think that we reduced the milk intake to 20oz months later than seven months old.

Since when has there been a limit on how much a baby should eat which can be applied to every single baby of a particular age? That HV is an illogical mentalist IMO.

I would report her tbh

Erm have just realised that your girl is a the top of the percentiles, rather than the other way around... forget what I said...

liquidclocks · 12/05/2007 22:03

Both DS's are near the top on the percentile charts - I have a fab HV and she has never told me to cut down their milk. Give your DD what she's happy to eat - she's 7 months, she's not going to overeat, she's just having what she needs!
