does not eat; potatoes, pasta, egg, rice, to try it, or what can you offer instead? I've now been trying to introduce these since he turned one and when he sees it he pushes it away, or just throws it over his shoulder.

Any ideas?

will he eat potatoes as mash? in shephers/fish pie?

hairymclary · 10/05/2007 15:32

I would just keep on putting a little bit on his plate, just a tiny spoonful.
don't try and make him eat it as that will make him more adamant not to.
or hide it in things

LucyJones · 10/05/2007 15:35

does he like bread? I wouldn't worry too much, by the time he's 2 or 3 he'll want nothing but pasta if he's anything like my ds

He ate potatoes when I mashed into carrots before, after the forth bite he realised and now refuses carrots too, I've managed to give some raw carrots, thinly sliced as part of a smiley face! I've decided to put the stuff on his plate and just see what happens, but he will only go as far as tasting it, biting it and spitting it out. He eats wholemeal toast, but does not eat white bread (strange!). So I'm hoping he will still get into it! Oh and he does not eat a lot of meat, including fish! lives off fruit and some veg! Cheese and yogurt!

I have some probs with my 18 month daughter - she loves houmous (tries to spoon it in) so i let her dip pitta bread or carrot in (she watches her brother). She loves chomping on corn on cob, or eating peas from a bowl with a spoon - and she really loves chicken which has been rolled in breadcrumbs and parmesan cheese and fried - she hates me feeding her so I have to rely on finger foods - she also likes jacket potato mashed up with tuna, sweetcorn and mayo.... Good luck

hairymclary · 10/05/2007 16:01

if he is trying it then that's excellent. it can take children a long time to learn to like things and tolerate different textures so as long as he will at least give it a go I wouldn't worry.
keep serving it up and one day he'll surprise you

Mum2FunkyDude · 10/05/2007 19:11

Perseverance then. I know my brother's lo's took a while to get used to texture, but they were under 2 when they did, although the little boy is still fussy!

Just realise, he hates to drink cow's milk as well... maybe it's the whiteness of it?
