BLW: when did your LO start eating proper meals?

My LO is six months old and I started weaning a couple of weeks ago. I wanted to start off with purees and she seemed excited about it at first but very quickly got bored, started grabbing the spoon and flinging it around. She’s much more interested in feeding herself so I’m switching to BLW. She’s getting food into her mouth ok but not much is actually being eaten yet. If you did BLW, when did your baby start to properly chew/swallow food and be satisfied by it? I know it’s supposed to be all about letting them explore the food for now, but she’s on the small side so I’m keen for her to get eating!

For the first month, DS just licked and nibbled a few things here and there. Around 7 months, he would have a reasonable go at eating certain, preferred foods - toast, yogurt, meat, courgette and strawberries if I remember correctly! - while the rest was still nibbled/licked/played with. Around 9 months, he started consistently eating a reasonable amount at mealtimes. Although he'd discovered dropping/throwing food by then so a reasonable amount also ended up on the floor!

DS has just turned nine months and he has just started eating a decent amount at mealtimes. I would say carry on offering your baby food and eventually they'll get used to eating for satiety. You could also try a mixture of baby led and parent led, for example, I would give DS pieces of pasta to eat by himself and then spoon feed him the bolognaise. It made me feel better that he was definitely getting some food in him!

I’ve weaned one with purée so and one blw and I don’t think either were satisfied with solids until they were about 9 months.
