From a safety view I personally wouldn't be bothered about it being pink but won't all of these be rather tough and chewy cooked rare for a child of this age?
Um, does he have any teeth yet?

doesn't sound like a great idea - but you could cut the outside which will be cooked through and give that to your baby. I remember from my food and hygiene diploma (!), learning that all duck meat is contaminated with salmonella because of the way they live (not very cleanly) so it seems a bit mad to risk salmonella poisoning. Obviously you're bigger and stronger and been exposed to more bugs so pink meat not likely to be a problem for you.

i certainly gave my dd pink steak at that age. it's easier rather than harder to chew if it's undercooked, surely? anyway, she loved it. interesting about the duck, tho. although i don't eat much of it so not an issue here.

Thanks. Will be careful of the duk but I find pink meat easier to eat, not as chewy so thought he may like to suck on some meat!!
