How much food are you giving your 6-7 month old?

What food are you giving them?

What times of day?

Also.. can we do a combination of feeding him purée with a spoon AND offering soft veg finger food?

Hello! At 6-7 months we did a combo of purée and finger food as my DD has really good fine motor skills and wanted to pick food up.

We started off with just lunch which would be a couple of ice cubes of purée and a small piece of finger food. We then moved up to breakfast and lunch; by 7 months she wanted 3 meals a day with 4 bottles of milk (600ml in total). At the end of 7 months she wanted two courses at each meal (say an egg scrambled, followed by a semolina pudding with fruit) and has dropped to 3 bottles of milk.

My DD loves her food though, no allergies, so this may not be typical.

Thanks. I'm just unsure if I'm doing this right!

We started off giving baby porridge which he more or less inhales 😂.

Then we started giving him half a jar of food at around 4pm, again he LOVED so we've increased to a full jar.

We have started giving him bits of finger food here and there as a "snack" to get used to holding it etc.

I just didn't know if introducing another meal at lunch would be too much.

He loves his food and is starting to lose interest in milk....

As long as my DD drank 500-600ml of milk a day (obviously if you are breast feeding that would be hard to know, I had to formula feed) I just let her get on with exploring new flavours and textures. Have fun!

What you are doing sounds perfect; my DD took to food really well so I was doing 3 meals quite quickly. She’s nearly 9 months now and I spoon feed at breakfast, finger food at lunch and spoon feed as well as her having finger food at dinner. She gets a bit frustrated just sitting there being fed so it works perfectly to give her food to feed herself at the same time.

Thank you both so much.

It's always hard to know what you're doing right or wrong!
