We are introducing our 5.5 month old to foods

We give him baby porridge on a morning and half a jar of cow and gate food on afternoon. He still wants a small bottle alongside these. Is this ok?

Until he’s eating a lot as in 3 meals a day of lots of food and snacks his bottles shouldn’t reduce as that’s where he’s getting his nutrition from.
My DD is having 3 meals a day and continues with 4 bottles a day.

I would keep his food intake and milk intake separate still at this age. Offer milk whenever he would normally have it, ideally first before solids, then offer solid food to try when you sit down to have your meals. We started weaning at 6 months and mine continued to have all her normal milk feeds (6 a day) until 9 months when she dropped down to 4 a day.

The current advice is to work upto 3 meals a day between 8 and 9 months so I wouldn’t offer anymore solids yet and keep giving all the milk. Solids should be offered roughly an hour after his milk. It’s much more important that he drinks his milk than eat a jar of food Xmas Smile
