BLW is it possible to start at 8 and a half months??

hiya i have just joined, after reading a few of the blogs about BLW, i was wondering if it is possible to start a baby at 8 months who has previously been on pureed? would be grateful for any advice

I started my dd2 on BLW at about that age because she was consistently and continuously refusing to take food from a spoon.

It took a few weeks to really get going, but it was a very succesful method of weaning dd2.

I started her with pieces of bread, then progressed to brocolli florets and pasta.

It's a perfect time.Try it.You will both have a much more enjoyable food experience IYKWIM.
Watch out for the mess though!

We started about then after puree refusal... was more 90% finger food than BLW, but was the best thing we ever did with regard to food/feeding!

So what knid of stuff did you all start with?

Started with those organix carrot crisp things, just to see if she could hold something, and chose those as they are melt in the mouth... then moved on to veg sticks, pasta, pancakes then slowly to everything and anything!

i did ! beacvsue she stopped eating, doc & HV said give her finger food, which we did ! and she ate beautifully...didn;t realise until joined mumsnet it had a name !

started with rice cakes

toast fingers

broccolli and cauli florets

strips of chicken

pasta

and then just what we ate basically !!

course it is, so long as you're not cutting back milk feeds of course. good luck. i think we gave DD apricots and peaches to start with (it was summer) and then broccoli, green beans, hunks of meat etc...
