My son is doing fine on his weaning and has dropped from six bottle feeds a day to four as I have introduced baby rice, rusk, mashed up fruit etc at 4-5 pm then the next bottle he has is before bed which is working really well as he is sleeping through the night.
Should I introduce a bowl of food at his 12pm feed now? He is 5 months old and has been weaning for abot 5-6 weeks now, would this be too much food at this stage?

yes it would be too much. he only needs milk.

Hi Kylah

I weaned ds at 17 weeks - the way some people reacted you'd have thought I'd chopped his leg off! I think if you feel he's ready for it you could always try with an extra meal. I had a Cow & Gate Feeding Plan which I used as a rough guideline to how much I should be giving, and I found it really helpful. I see there is an updated one you can download, this might be of help. Sorry, don't know how to do links or I would have sent it to you

if he's satisfied with what he's having at the moment why force more on him?

I'd stick with the milk

MerryMarigold · 13/04/2007 15:39

Kylah, I wouldn't as he definitely needs more milk than food at this stage. If he fills up on food, he may well drink less milk and this will slow down his growth. I would stick to what you are doing if he is happy with that.
