BLW breakfast - again!!

DD almost 9 months now. Eats v well at lunch & tea, but still struggling at brekkie. Have tried everything i can think of - cereal (like raisin wheats etc), all types of bread (crumpets, muffins, soda bread, eggy bread etc, etc), with Philly, jam, Marmite etc. All ends up on the floor. Cos she eats so well all other times i know she knows what to do now, she just doesn't seem to want it! She will, however, eat fruit for brekkie, which i dip in yoghurt for the milk allowance. Should i just keep trying and she'll do it eventually, or just offer fruit for now. She's fit and healthy, so intake not a prob for now, i just worry that as she gets bigger this won't be enough to sustain her (doesn't help that friends say i should be spooning her purees as well or she'll never get enough!)
Sorry for the long post!!

pancakes and slices of porridge are two things i've heard suggested before...

Stick to fruit and yoghurt for breakfast, and every now and again offer something else, something that you are eating yourself. She'll soon let you know when she's hungry enough to eat more. Ignore the friends who tell you you should be spooning purees. it sounds like she's doing very well! Your friends are just showing that they don't understand BLW.

I reckon a banana must have just as many, if not more calories than cereal based brekkies. Perhaps she's just not a breakfast person, my niece eats almost nothing at breakfast but loads the rest of the day.

Thanks everyone. Helps to get a bit of reassurance now and again.
Shoppingbags, that does sound like DD, she eats like a horse for the rest of the day!

weetabix?

Coriander73 · 13/04/2007 20:23

My 7 month DS is BLW - through refusing spoons & purees when we tried weaning at 26 weeks. He has started to eat well at lunch & tea but we have also struggled with breakie. He does have bananas / apricots / yogs- but I can't do that every day - so today we gave him weetabix...which he did take off the spoon.

PinkTulips · 14/04/2007 11:31

the only brekkie ds will eat is pancakes or french toast don't know why, he just seems set on those!

although he ate scrambled eggs this morning and loved it

DS is 7 months & I can't recall when they can start eating eggs......anyone?!!!
