refusing food, bottle and breast

my 6 and a half month twins have gone from guzzlers to eating nothing. Breast and bottle are both played with and then rejected or pushed away with a cry. One also has had quite bad squits so I am worried about dehydration. And screaming seems to have begun at a much higher pitch. From reading other posts it seems as though this could be teething, can I really put it all down to that? Suddenly two jolly babes have turned in to miserable wretches and I am a total wreck! Any tips would be much appreciated. Also they have been weaning now for about 4 weeks on fruits and veg, any tips about moving on to more interesting stuff - I am just not sure how to take the plunge!

Sounds just like teething to me - are they dribbly? try some calpol or/and nurofen

It could well be teething or a bit of a bug. Mini-Plibble went from being a food-hoover to refusing virtually everything (at its worst she was down to a couple of ounces of milk per day) when she didn't feel great.
I think you are right to worry about dehydration rather than anything else - it is pretty unlikely that your babies will starve themselves if you keep offering food!
One thing I found helpful was to give my DD orange segments to suck on - to get some calories and liquid into her when she wouldn't take anything else.
As far as the weaning goes, can you just sit them in their highchairs and give them some things to pick up, play with and attempt to chew themselves? At this age, I gave my daughter strips of chicken breast, thin strips of cucumber and chunks of fruit (although not apple as it is brittle) and just let her get on with it.
You might not want to go the full "baby led weaning" route, but it is worth checking out some of the threads on it as they have lots of good ideas for things you can feed your babies.

thank you ladies. Calpoled and bonjelared up, they have drank much better today and are asleep now. Tried some chunks of Kiwi too which went down a treat - thank you for ideas
