Introducing cows milk

Hi, I am currently day weaning my breastfed 11.5 month old DD as I am returning to work in a couple of weeks. She was a bottle refuser from the start but is now great with a sippy cup so I'm moving her straight onto cows milk in a cup. However she hates it and spits it straight out. Any tips or hints or is it a case of just persevere and keep offering? I am not too worried nutritionally right now as I still breastfeed at night but I want to night wean in another month or so and would like her to be established on milk before then. She also loves yoghurt and cheese so would extra portions of these with plenty of water suffice in place of milk?

Maybe mix cow's milk with your milk in reducing dilutions?

How are you getting on @Bhar78?

Hi, not great actually. She will take a few sips then chuck the cup on the floor. She does love drinking water so I am concentrating on getting dairy into her in other ways, milky porridge, cheese, yoghurt etc. Annoyingly she is waking for an extra breastfeed overnight (gone from one to two) but I will tackle night weaning over the next few weeks. Are you in a similar situation?

No, it I've been there Smile. Sone things that helped us were giving semi-skimmed milk for a bit, can't remember who told me to try this but it worked for my DS. Give the milk at body temperature and if that fails, add vanilla essence.

Have you started back yet? Are you thinking of continuing with the Bfing around work? On the days I worked mine had a bf in the morning, one on pick up and one before bed (then whatever they wanted at night).

FWIW neither of mine would properly drink cow's milk until I'd stopped Bfing altogether and they'd had a break of about 2 weeks. Can't say I blame them either, it must be a bit rubbish compared to bm [smie]

My dd day and night weaned herself at 10.5-11 months! She literally abandoned most milk feeds, leaving only her bedtime feed (which she then dropped at 14 months)and I tried everything to get her to drink it, warm, cold, sippy cup, bottle etc. Hv said to feed her plenty of cheese, yogurt and creamy sauces.
