Any difference between stage 2 and 3 formula

DS is 9months old. He has been breastfed till now but I've gone back to work and my supply has dropped so he gets quite grumpy when feeding as I suppose there's not as much. I've tried pumping but it's so much work for the tiny amount of milk I get out. I also don't want to spend my lunch break pumping as it's the only time I get to myself!
I'm gunna buy some formula, but the one I want is 8.50 for 800g of stage 2 and a fiver for 650g of stage 3. I don't need loads only enough for 3 bottles a day and will try to bf at night still. I've compared the ingredients and they seem the same to me, just a fraction more nutrients in the stage 2. Or should I just move him on to cows milk? He eats loads of food and a good variety as I cook mostly veggie food with lots of additional protein.

Just use stage 1 there's no difference other than they are allowed to market stage 2 and 3.
