Hi, my dd is 9 mths and was wondering at what age should I introduce a spoon for her to try and feed herself? up until now she eats everything with her hands even mashed potato!!

I haven't seen the dvd but apparently Gill Rapley says on it around 10 months.

I have given my DD a fork a couple of times but need to get a proper set. She loved it although i had to spear something and she played with it a bit. She's 10 months tomorrow

hope that helps x

Def remember DS2 feeding himself with spoon without too much help on first birthday so must have started before then.

Thanks everyone, from what you have said about now is the right time to introduce one and just let her play around with it at first. I have got the first weaning spoons as I was going to start on the purees but decided on blw, think she needs a later stage spoon now she is 9 mths?

The best spoons we had were freebies, some nice Teletubbies ones from a magazine with, and the Petit Filous ones that come free with a Bounty pack.

Now, I don't consider Petit Filous to be essential to my baby's diet - I consider it to be a creamy treat for when mummy's feeling flush - but I find the spoons to be just right, nice shape, big enough bowl, nice length. You need a proof of purchase (so mummy needs a treat first, right?), then you can get them here

I found some perfectly good ones (set of 2 spoons and 2 forks) in Poundland (so cost a pound, obviously)
