... please don't be put off by all the silly arguments we have. You don't have to align yourself with a weaning camp or philosophy, even if it sometimes seems that way.

Whether you choose to puree, do BLW/finger food or a combination of the two, or just do whatever works for you, you will get plenty of support and good advice here. The MN posters have literally thousands of years of experience between them.

Don't be afraid to post .

[links arms with lulumama, sways back and forth]

hear, hear, littlelapin. good post.
you know, despite the fact that i was clearly supposed to know what to do about weaning just because i am a mum, i didn't, and i was anxious about it. that's what led me to MN in the first place, many moons ago.
i now know that it's not rocket science, but that's not necessarily what i felt at the time.

i'm sorry that this bickering always breaks out, it's embarrassing.

to anyone starting out, the good news is that if you wait til 6 months you'll probably find that you can give finger foods. whether you do that with purees or without or whether you don't give any finger foods for a while, it's not a matter of political conviction and nothing is set in stone.

in the end, milk makes up the bulk of babies' nutrition for the first year so you do have some time to find the best way for you and your baby, whatever that may be. and the whole weaning thing? over in a blink of an eye let me tell you...

Scootergirl · 22/03/2007 22:16

And by about 12 months, they're all on fruit shoots and mcdonalds..... aren't they

littleEasterlapin · 22/03/2007 22:25

I still don't know what a fruit shoot is... is it one of those fruit leather things?

OP posts:
Scootergirl · 22/03/2007 22:26

No, tis a drink

littleEasterlapin · 22/03/2007 22:30

Oh OK. I'm guessing a fruity one

DS doesn't have fruit juice yet, so haven't been exposed to them - I'm sure I will be!

OP posts:
Scootergirl · 22/03/2007 22:33

They taste truly vile (sweetners etc) and the kind of thing that some people hand out because it's got fruit in the name... so it must be good....
Anyway enought chuntering from me. It was a truly lovely message and I am beginning to think there must be some dark secret in the lapin closet because you seem so truly lovely!

NormaStanleyfEGGcher · 22/03/2007 22:33

I made the most basic mistake of any weaning mother tonight

I failed to notice that my DS had hung my coat over the back of the highchair - thank everything that it is machine washable

Scootergirl · 22/03/2007 22:34

And you're a fellow forces wife and everyone knows we're normally grumpy old bags!

NormaStanleyfEGGcher · 22/03/2007 22:35

Who is a fellow forces wife?

Scootergirl · 22/03/2007 22:36

littlelapin is

AitchYouBerk · 22/03/2007 22:36

bubble wrap?! [paranoid] why bubble wrap?

NormaStanleyfEGGcher · 22/03/2007 22:37

B'coz you have had far too much flack [sp?] today.

AitchYouBerk · 22/03/2007 22:39

oh, cheers... a stiff drink might do the trick. is the bar open?

NormaStanleyfEGGcher · 22/03/2007 22:40

and I love you (because you have changed the way I feed my DD, and you try sooooo hard to be reasonable, and you get so much stress for all the wrong reasons because people don't listen to the reasons why you have to point out the differences between blw and stuff and all of that and I have run out of punctuation and I don't care but i still think you are lovely

littleEasterlapin · 22/03/2007 22:40

scootergirl... my skeleton is.... DS sleeps in a kennel outside... but it is made of sustainable wood!

I is Navy Wiff, NormaStanleyFletcher.

And I think Aitch needs lots of hugs after today. My DS definitely eats better because of her (and he fancies BabyBear )

OP posts:
NormaStanleyfEGGcher · 22/03/2007 22:41

I is a RAF wiff (to bee)

Scootergirl · 22/03/2007 22:43

Lapin - and if DS is outside, surely you can turn the heating down inside thus saving on carbon emmissions..
Have missed the early threads but surely as long as children are fed well and healthily, it should be ok...........
