Am I Alone? Food aversion issue

I have an issue with food aversion. I've always been picky and have OCD issues with food I.e. I don't like certain foods to touch each other on my plate, I have problems with the temperature of food and even get affected by seeing food where it's not supposed to be! (I.e. On the floor, Not on a plate etc)

I have a 7 month old and am weaning him slowly... I hadn't even thought of my issues until today when he put his hand in his mouth, covered it in porridge and tried to touch me!

I nearly cried Sad

Has anyone else been through similar or know where I can get help from? I'm so worried about passing these issues to him

Have you ever had treatment for your anxiety and OCD symptoms? I would suggest first visiting your GP to discuss your anxiety and see if they can do anything for you. I'd mention that you are concerned about it affecting your child and how you interact with them.

Thank you for your response- I did go to the doctors when I was younger re: food issues and unfortunately my GP laughed it off! I've had treatment for anxiety but never dealt with this head on. I think your right, I need to go back and find a better doctor

You sound so much like me. I got in touch with someone called Felix Economakis who helped people on the BBC show Freaky Eaters. He does face to face sessions, Skype sessions or you can buy access to a generic video hypnotherapy session. I was extremely cynical about the treatment but one hypnotherapy session later and I will eat anything you ask me to, I may not like it but I can tolerate it and that is a life changing thing for me. Previous to this therapy I would rather die (not much of an exaggeration) than eat 'unsafe' foods. I would highly recommend trying this. I put up with my weird eating for years but when I realised my DS could end up like me I saw I needed to change. Good luck x

Thank you so much for replying- I will look into this straight away. So glad I'm not alone! x

I can't stand mushy food .. mash, banana etc makes me gag. Unfortunately ds is a purée sort of baby. How I survived is a mystery.
I'm also the same, food can't touch, and definitely can't be combined.

Phew, another one!

Ironically your name made me gag a bit chipscheeseandgravy 😂
