In general from 6 months cow's milk can be used on cereal etc.
Not sure about allergies though - maybe post in the allergy topic?

clairemow · 15/03/2007 15:11

i don't know anything about this really - you could try soya based milk and yoghurts? do you think the sickness this am was related?

kipperthedog · 15/03/2007 15:14

Have you asked your GP or HV?

MrsBadger · 15/03/2007 15:16

I'd give him the goat stuff you have in the house for you anyway - ie actual goats' milk, not goat formula.

magicfairy · 15/03/2007 15:16

not sure, he has always been a sicky boy but recently since 3 meals a day have started he seemed to not be puking so much if at all. but this morn after breakky fine then when he had his mid morn bf all hell broke loose, we are on the 3rd change of clothes!

maybe he has a little bug, which is unrelated?

My DS2 is 6 months as well and he's had ordinary full fat cow's milk, so I don't htink you need to use formula for cereal etc. Just try whatever milk you use for yourself. I think lactose intolerance is quite common though. Can your GP refer you to have any tests done to see whether DS has an intolerance to dairy?

kipperthedog · 15/03/2007 15:25

If thers' no reason to suspect he is allergic or intolerant to cow's milk I think you should give him that. There's nothing to say that he will be the same as you. My ds is allergic btw and dd isn't. It's an individual thing.

CantSlimWontSlim · 16/03/2007 23:12

It's actually illegal to sell goats milk formula in the UK, so you shouldn't have been able to even try this!

If he does have an intolerance/allergy to cows milk protein then he almost certainly will have an intolerance to goats milk protein too, so I wouldn't advise using actual goats milk either.

Soya milk shouldn't be given to under 2s, although occasional soya products like yoghurt are ok.

Rice or oat milk with added calcium is perfectly acceptable to use for his cooking/cereal.

(Have had advice from paed and dietician on all of this btw, as dd is CMP intolerant).
