Freezing stuff in ice cube trays

Dopey question about freezing ice cube tray portions: do you have an ice cube tray with some kind of lid? Or do you just have it open in freezer? Seems kind of gross but that might say more about the state of my freezer than I care to admit.... I don't want to buy any more Baby Stuff unless it's genuinely necessary, just wondering if people use regular trays some mums may be doing it right so many are going to far and it's getting way out of handor something else!

I bought a roll of large freezer food bags, put the whole ice cube tray in and froze it. Then I popped the cubes out and left them in the food bag so I could reuse the tray.

Use a regular tray, once frozen pop the cubes in a freezer bag. Make sure to label it as DD once had mango risotto when I thought I was defrosting pureed butternut squash!

Okay, that sounds sensible (unlike my random last sentence, which is an accidental paste from something else entirely!) Cheers!

Yep, midwife recommended a normal ice cube tray just popped in a freezer bag.

I have one with a lid, incidentally - but anything is fine as long as it's covered!
