BLW - DD tries to eat like a cat so I am tempted to help her .

DD is 7 months and loves proper food (hates purees and spoons). However when I put a batch of food on her tray she tries to bend her head to the tray and catch the food with her mouth. She rarely uses her hands. Obviously this does not really work. If I pick the pieces up she opens her mouth for them and chews away with enthusiasm. Would you feed her with your fingers or leave her to find her own hands?

Have you tried putting the food in her hand so she gets it to her mouth herself?

LOL I read this as "tries to eat the cat". I would be tempted to leave her to find her hands, perhaps sit along sideher and eat so of the same foods yourself to show her how it is done.

I do eat somw with her and put bits in her hand. She holds the food, waves it round, sometimes eats a little, then puts her head down to try and hoover more off her tray... is she weird or have others experienced this?

ComeOVeneer - Lol she doesn't eat the cat but the cat is enjoying the spoils at the base of the highchair.

Haha! bless her! My DD has done that a few times but mostly has worked out how quickly she can stuff it in her mouth with her hands!

I'm sure she'll pick it up soon (scuse the pun!)

Ds does this with raisins. Loves them but he can't be arsed so licks them like a horse licks sugar lumps. My sis teaches a 5 year old who genuinely believes she is a cat, so beware

Aww that image is really cute in my head.
My youngest does actually try and eat the cat. She doesn't mind, she also enjoys hanging about under the trip trapp!

It is VERY cute Moogey. I took a video of her "lapping" up some lamb mince this evening. She was so pleased with herself but had lamb up her nose, in her hair, in her ears...
