Vitamin Supplements for one year old

Is anyone giving prescribed vitamins to a 12 month old? DS doesn't eat anything but weetabix, cheese and bread. Always been a terrible eater and have gone past the point of despair a long time ago. I think we now need to look at some supplements in the short term until he discovers the joys of veg and fruit. Wonder if anyone else has experience of this????

I'm in the States and, where I am, it is standard practice to give babies and toddler liquid vitamin supplements (Vitamins A, C & D). Over here you can buy it off the shelf but I don't know what the rules are in the UK.

My DS (now 17 months) eats fairly well most days, but has had vitamin drops since he was about 4 months old. They certainly don't seem detrimental. In fact, he loves them, so I'll continue until I'm told otherwise.

I gave my DS a supplement when he was a baby - he's 5.5 and stil on one now.

I used Abidec when he was a baby and Vivioptal now.

Yes Twotimes - prob get in Boots or any other pharmacy.

There are lots of people who feel that vits are not necessary if child eats a balanced diet but I remember reading about oranges from a supermarket that were found not to contain any vit C so even if DS eats well I still give the vits.

I used to give mine Minadex. They do a multi-vit syrup and a Tonic. Both available over the counter. The tonic supposed to help improve appetite after illness too.

Thanks, will go down to Boots to have a look. Did you find they helped?
