Nine month old - DH wants to start spoon feeding as she's not eating...

Am doing BLW, but DD is just not eating and hasn't really been for the past few weeks. I'm happy to put it down to teething (which she is) but DH is thinks that we should start spoon feeding her stuff. She was eating fine. Munching on stuff, but has just lost interest. She'll eat a yoghurt a day if I feed it to herm but htat's it

Anyone else had problems like this?

Well my DS has been a bit like this the past few days(was about to start a thread actually). I have been half heartdely doing BLW (he is 9 months now) I spoon feed him porridge , yoghurts etc. But he has been mostly feeding himself, but over the past few days he has been throwing all food on the floor. Yesterday i gave him a banana, he would bite a bit of roll it around in his mouth for a bit then throw it on the floor, none of the banana got it eaten. So i picked it all up mashed it and then spoon fed it to him, and he ate it all. I think sometimes they really do want to be spoon fed. if we are truly following the principles of BLW,then if the baby wants to be spoon fed we should follow there lead.

Plenty of spoonfed babies don't eat when they're teething either.

Don't stress about the food stuff now.

She is likely not to want a spoon in her mouth if it's sore - lots of babies only eat yoghurt and fruit puree when they're teething because it's soft and easy. Try giving her some bits of pear or something, maybe?

Thanks guys. DH has just admitted he is being paranoid and that she seems fine in herself other than a sore mouth.

Don't know a great deal about BLW and therefore can't offer an opinion on that, but if she's not eating and she will if you spoonfeed then I would most definitely do that.

Saadia, until a few weeks ago, she was eating a yoghurt plus toast plus veggie and meat, so I know she can eat, and usually enjoys, other foods.

I wouldn't let a slavish adherence to a theory (no matter how excellent) get in the way of feeding a baby tbh. If you feed her does she seem hungry and eagerish to eat? That's the key thing, I think.
