Can 10 month old have quorn?

We're having quorn sausages for our dinner and was wondering if I could save him a chunk to try tomorrow?

Well I fed dd quorn at that age but it is not reccomended by the manufacturers below the age of 2 because there is egg white in it.

I've been wondering this as we're all veggies and eat quorn every so often. DS is 9 mths and has had egg (inc white) with no probs - is the egg white thing the only thing against quorn??. Just add we wouldn't be giving it to him that often (prefer him to eat relatively unprocessed stuff)

My dd has had bolognese made with quorn.

I was told to wait until ds was 2 but at around a year I did give it now and again and when he seemed to be ok with it, I gradually increased it til he was having it regularly by 18 months.

I think it might be something to do with taking longer to digest and possibly giving them stomach ache? Not sure, but my 2 ds's were ok on it.

it's low salt and fat, so don't see why not. DS (8mths) has tried the sausages. There's nothing on the boxes about age suitability.

oh good, I much prefer them to meat sausages and the low salt side makes them even better. We'll see what he thinks tomorrow

I think quorn recommend not to because it's very high in fibre and pretty low in calories.

i use vege mince often enough as well as tivall sausages for dd when over 1 she always ate what we ate but i would generally take care to add grated cheese or some such for calories, etc.

thank you hairy, I should have checked website myself. Just thought I'd give him a bite as a bit of finger food so should be ok

This is good news - DS can have some of our tea when we have quorn (one less 'baby' meal to make!)
