Can I have suggestions on which foods to begin with if I do BLW

I know they are probably mentioned on the bigger threads but I can't find them amongst the 3million other posts.

Anyway, I'm interested in giving it a go. So, what do I start with and do I just place it in front of her?

She seems quite happy with milk for the moment and sleeps 7-5ish, feeds then off again until 8am. Is it ok to leave her a little longer?

Also, how small do I make the pieces?

I cut up bits of potato and carrot to start with into about 2" thin batons. Your DD isn't likely to actually eat much of it anyway at the moment, so it's just for experimentation of texture and taste (sometimes!).

Don't worry if she isn't interested. Remember her main nutrition is still BM at the moment - and food is for fun

Agree you should have a look at Aitch's blog.

She might find banana a bit too slippery to pick up at first, but agree that broccoli is a great first food. Try having some yourself at the same time and eat it with your fingers, so that she can see what to do.

Chip shaped steamed/boiled root veg is pretty much all you need to remember at first.

agreed. and if you're doing wheat, you are best to toast bread or give crusts as they can clump in the top of the mouth. what fun, i almost wish i was starting again, it's such a laugh.

One other question; If she doesnt take anything, does that mean she's not ready. Or isshe likely to gobble it up?

I wouldn't count on it being gobbled up, but if anything makes it near her lips, then count it as a success!
As the others have said, it's all for fun and play...and you will know when some has gone down as it will more than likely appear at the other end (watch out for carrot....)
