Do you know the REAL reason why you have to wait until 6 months to wean.................?

According to my friend's HV, it's simply a rumour put about by the formula companies because they make more money out of formula than they do out of baby food jars .

All the research on allergies, etc from early weaning are made up then?

HVs, dont you just love em?

lovelymoo · 19/02/2007 14:29

i was also told this by my HV but i had already started weaning bith dc at 4mths anyway

lulumama · 19/02/2007 14:31

and what about all the mums who breastfeed ?????

what a load of bollueax, HVs like that should be forced to spend a day here, with hunker, aitch and dizzy explaining very slowly about weaning !

Piffle · 19/02/2007 14:33

yes cos in those first 2 mths of weaning (if you wean at 4mths) babie are reknowned for ripping into steak sandwiches and really reducing their milk intake

aaahhh, the hv mafia. Personally, i thought this advice came from the world health organisation to wait to 6 months.

MrsBadger · 19/02/2007 14:34

We could pit them against mears, tiktok and lulumama as well as the weaning girls...

MN Towers, can we have HV Days?
Like those track days where you take your normal car to a racetrack and see how well it performs against proper sports cars, can people bring their HVs online and watch them slug it out against the real experts?

Pretty please?

robin3 · 19/02/2007 14:34

Could be true...

on that BBC2 food programme recently they said that needing to drink 2 litres of water a day was in fact a finding by some post-war scientist who then went on to say that most people get that from their daily food. That stat was then dredged up by the bottles water companies, misrepresented and used for marketing.

WanderingTrolley · 19/02/2007 14:35

HVs: why do they only come in two sorts - barking mad and brilliant?

Olihan, your pal's HV is clearly a conspiracy theorist. Watch out for her next pearl of wisdom:

"You know why we have to sterilize don't you? It's because when Lord Lucan rode Shergar off to the fake moon landing site in Area 52 (or whatever it is) in the Nevada desert, he upset Osama Bin Laden on the bus there and he unleashed a plague of evil lurgy viruses that only live on baby paraphernalia, oh yessss....[mad cackle]"

beansprout · 19/02/2007 14:35

Mrs Badger - I'm generally against blood sports, but in this case I will make an exception!!

lulumama · 19/02/2007 14:38

oh yes MrsB!!

can you imagine....

"you advice baby rice at 4 months to get baby to sleep through...""

sllllaaaaaaaaaaappppp!!!

"oh , no benefit to breastfeeding past 6 months anyway..."

kkeeeeeerrrrrrpppppppoooooooweeeeeeeeee

"oh no dear, you musn;t try for a vaginal delivery after a c,s...."

kkerrrrrrrrbllllllllllammmmmmmm

bigcar · 19/02/2007 14:38

pmsl! Got to agree though, most hvs ive come across are akin to hitler. Some are good though or is that conspiracy theory toooo!

lulumama · 19/02/2007 14:40

my HV is brilliant, have to say,

and she does the 'no weaning until 6 months' thing ! and shouts at mums giving babies rusks !!!

Olihan · 19/02/2007 14:45

and lol at the conspiracy theory, WanderingTrolley, and the HV days would be classic entertainment. We should start a campaign for their incusion .
