Ds keeps throwing up his tea

My ds - nearly 9 mo - has thrown up his tea for the past three nights'. I weaned him late and it's only been for the past fortnight that he's had three substantial meals a day. He has reflux so could it be that? Or is he having too much for breakfast or lunch? Or could it be he's not quite sitting up so I feed him on my lap - could I be pushing his tummy?

he only has two milk feeds/day plus maybe a top up in the afternoon, and I can't get him to drink any water. O/wise he's well and happy.

Can anyone help? TIA!

what did he eat for tea? can he not sit up in a highchair at all?

Thanks for your reply. The first night was mixed veg and pasta with lentils. The next was mixed veg, lentils and potatoes. Tonight he had cheese sauce with broccoli and potatoes. The only thing that was new to him was the pasta.

He's very nearly sitting up. The hv is coming to check his sitting in a couple of weeks' but she doesn't think there is anything wrong.

what happens if you miss out his tea?
Or feed him at a differnt time?

Thanks for your reply. I haven't tried missing his tea as he is so hungry. He eats at about 5.30 which fits in well with my dds. I couldn't feed him later as their bedtime routine starts at 6.15.

He'd been managing three massive meals plus desserts and three full bottles with no trouble until Sunday.

My ds1 had a very delicate gag reflex (as well as reflux) so if he had cause to gag on a bit of food the entire meal came up!

Ds2 now nearly 9 months is the same although with him I can usually wiggle him to dislodge the food and he is ok, if I pat his back (again a reflux baby but this time much more severe Enfamil formula etc) he would throw up.

He could also be excited about food and over-filling his tummy which I have found means they reflux the food back up and once they start they just throw up for England. Do you think it could be this?

I was always told weaning would help the reflux with both children it has done nothing really, DS1 stopped his reflux when he walked and was upright most of the time!!! Ds2 is advanced and cruising the bloody furniture and will be 9 months next week (my sister walked at 9 1/2 months, gulp)

If you feed him his breakfast and lunch on your lap then maybe the tea time feed is the one where he might over-indulge???

Thanks for your reply. Things have settled down a bit now. The hv thinks he might have been doing it b/c he can - just something new. He is still refluxing too - I hope that settles soon - although it's not as bad as it was. He's in his high chair and that might be helping too.
