DD climbed out of high chair (tripp trapp style Tchibo version)

Luckily we saw her before she could fall out but it was a scare...
Have your high chairs got straps or have anyone's dc's ever tried to climb out of their high chairs?
I am considering buying another high chair with straps, any considerations?

Mine has been climbing in and out of her tripp trapp high chair now for a while now. I bought it for her when she was 20 months old and I reckon she started climbing out of it about 2 or 3 months later! I bought some straps but have now taken them off when she almost got her foot caught in the straps when she was trying to climb in whilst I wasn't looking and I decided that to fall off without straps might be better than her getting caught up in straps and really getting into trouble IYSWIM.

Also FWIW despite this design flaw I have also subseqently bought another Tripp trapp for dd2 who is ALOT more athletic and curious than her big sister so I reckon she'll be climing in and out before too long herself now too (she's only 13 months). I use the straps on her when she's in it to stop her climbing out at the moment already!

hasnt the tripp trapp got d-rings that you can attache a harness to?

my dd is only 9.5 months so god knows what she will be up to in a few months. I don't trust that chair anymore and think it is not safe to sell it without straps...

I attached a harness to my dd's tripp trapp, no problems.

my dd did this at about the same age. she is a complete pain in all high chairs. when she was about a year we just ditched the high chair & she sits on a normal chair. ours are quite high & she has enough sense to realise she can't get down...

I'll check at home whether that's possible on the Tchibo one.

I just bought clippasafe reins from mothercare / toysrus or similar.

Even if it does't have D-rings you can probably attach a standard harness/reins (the sort you get in Mothercare/Boots etc) just by looping the little attachments round the highchair and then clipping the harness to the attachments (hard to explain but if you look at reins in Mothercare or Boots you will see what I mean).

oh that's interesting hoxtonchick. My dd is very wriggly and doesn't seem mature enough at the moment to sit on a normal chair, but in a couple of months who knows... Would at least save buying a new chair.

I managed to attach a harness to my Tchibo one but it was not straightforward - the attachments you get with the harness are not long enough to go around the frame. I ended up improvising with some of those straps you get to attach to toddlers wrists....

Hmm that sounds like hard work...

If the Tchibo copy of the Tripp Trapp does not have rings (to attach to a harness) then it is a complete design fault and someone should complain, if necessary demanding their money back as it is not "fit for purpose".
