5.5 month old has gone off milk, time to wean?

DS2 is very disinterested in his milk lately, has gone from 7oz down to around 5 and can take or leave it. He will still be hungry but too distracted to drink the last bit.

Otherwise he shows all the proper signs of readiness ie no tongue thrust, sits up unsupported etc. I was waiting until 6 months because we have eczema, diabetes and autoimmune conditions in the family, but should I just cut my losses now and wean - it is only 2 weeks away and I am thinking he will still probably take the 5oz, then have the food on top so it shouldn't replace any of the milk feeds.

Type 1 diabetes btw, it's not diet related.

The guidelines say 'around 6 months' to start weaning so long as they are displaying the signs of readiness.

Having said that, is there anything you can think of to help with his milk intake, since this will remain his main source of nutrition for ages? I find being in a quiet room etc helps.
