Is filtered water o.k?

Anyone know? Thought i'd done well getting dd (6.5mths) to drink water without having to add juice etc, when a friend said she shouldn't have filtered water (Brita!) due to something to do with mineral content!
Think dd loves it cos cold and refreshing, unlike boiled, cooled water!

well - tap water is supposed to be fine from 6 mths so I would have thought filtered water would be ok too?

can;t have mineral water, or bottled water, but filtered tap water should be fine, AFAIK

My sister has a 6 month old with kidney problems and has been told by their specialist that he mustn't have water that has passed through a softner system because of the higher mineral content (predominantly salts) and also advised against filtered waters primarily due to possible bacteria harboured in the filter and jug as a lot of people simply top it up and don't regularly wash it. This was more important if the water were to be used for making bottles of formula. HTH a bit.
